SHIMVENTIC was an assignment centred around studying elements relevant to motion design, and creating something quick and snappy.
It revolved around the mashing of 3 three-syllable words and then using the newly formed word in a brief, 10-second video that portrays the word as the face of a company, campaign, event, etc.
The word I came up with was SHIMVENTIC, a mashup of shimmering, adventure, and galactic.
However, it didn't start that way. Some brief ideating into other words I was fond of such as nebula, sorcery, and more took place. I would ideate with these words briefly before creating SHIMVENTIC,toying with a fruit company idea briefly.
Once i did settle on SHIMVENTIC, I began to sketch how a quick animation may play out, planning out before moving to the animation process on Adobe After Effects.
I used a lighter palette to capture the hopeful, starry-eyed positivity a space-based adventure company like SHIMVENTIC would aim to inspire, creating each element first in Adobe Illustrator, and then importing and manipulating them in Adobe After Effects.
